This is an amazing study. Humans are also very empathetic creatures. We will often sacrifice ourselves, our comfort, our livelihood to help another person. This is a beautiful quality in a person.
As I read through the study, an interesting thought popped in my head.
To piggyback on my last post (Matthew 10:14), I have to constantly remind myself that my call is to help others, warn them of potential danger, get them to make informed decisions, get them to think critically, offer up alternatives, etc. NOT to try to control the outcome. After all, every person has free will. I learned many years ago that trying to impose my will on someone else is itself a sin.
In this example, many times I feel like the rat who releases their fellow rat from their restrictive cage yet the imprisoned rat remains there, unwilling to be released.
I cannot force them to leave the confines, all I can do is make freedom possible. From there, it is up to them.
